When I arrived from China, no one was at reception. I’d booked a premium suite through Aagoda, requesting a higher floor, a terrace, and a room away from the elevator. Instead, I was sent to the third floor beside the elevator, to what seemed like the cheapest room, with no terrace. That room had already been booked, too. The receptionist first printed a paper calling it premium deluxe, then only admitted the rooms were booked after I showed the Aagoda pictures. He did nothing to sort it out and carried on as usual. They gave me a room costing less than half of what I paid and didn’t refund the difference. What kind of four-star hotel double-books a room? It felt like a sleazy scam. Try six seasons, you won’t regret it.

They’re trying to maintain their standards, but the amenities are struggling to stay in shape.

I chose the penthouse suite, their most expensive room, because it had a jacuzzi. It was broken, and the water was filthy. I mentioned it to the manager at checkout, but he didn’t seem to care. The food was the only good part of my stay.
