Hotel Docklands

The staff were very friendly, but we wouldn’t stay here again. I slept badly because the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The hotel needs fresh paint, better lighting, and a general decor refresh. The rooms and corridors didn’t smell fresh, and even the sidewalk outside and the entrance looked unappealing. There was damage to the inside panel of our room door, which was a little unsettling. The safe was at the bottom of the wardrobe, tucked under a shelf and hard to reach. Its low-battery light was on, so we worried it might not open again and didn’t use it. Coffee wasn’t replenished each day, so we had to keep asking for it.

I’d stay here again without hesitation. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, breakfast was decent, and public transport is nearby. In room 404 during a heatwave, the room and bathroom were decent, the bed was excellent, and it was very clean and well kept. The view over neighbouring roofs and the western skyline was reasonable, with afternoon sun. There’s no air conditioning, but they provide a fan. The windows open wide, and one has an effective insect screen. The TV channel selection was mediocre, but not bad.

Service was excellent, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was great. Having a balcony was a nice touch. The rooms are very, very small, though, and the en-suite is so tiny you can’t even towel off properly after a shower.

The room was generally clean, but very worn and partly improvised. It wasn’t cleaned during our three-night stay, and we couldn’t get two blankets instead of one big one. The breakfast room was quite chilly; breakfast itself was the usual hotel kind, good but nothing special. The location is good, in a fairly quiet neighbourhood without much traffic directly outside. Several pubs and restaurants are five minutes away, and the Old Town is a 30-minute walk. Check-in and check-out can be done online, and you use your mobile phone as the room key.
