Hotel Les Nuits

It took a bit of effort to find this little family-run hotel, but from the first minute I felt welcome. The receptionists I met were especially friendly and great hosts, always ready for a quick chat and happy to suggest places to go. Breakfast was next level, with lots of homemade options, fresh juice, and healthy food. My reservation wasn't in the system when I arrived, which was a bit inconvenient, but that warm hospitality and breakfast more than made up for it. I'll definitely book again.

For more than €200 a night, I expected to sleep comfortably, but the room was extremely noisy, with sounds from the hall and busy street carrying in. I live in Paris, so city noise is familiar, but I do expect better acoustics at an expensive hotel. The layout was poor too: there were no doors separating the bathroom or toilet, and the toilet was so cramped my 180 cm husband couldn't sit comfortably. Breakfast was another letdown at €25 for a very basic spread. On the morning we ate, a group of 30 had breakfast in a separate room near the buffet with the doors open, and the noise was overwhelming for a quiet Saturday. When I asked the staff member in charge to close them, he dismissed me, saying the doors had to stay open for passage. I said that seemed like a lot for such an expensive breakfast, and he rudely replied that it wasn't his fault and he couldn't control the group. I'm very disappointed with Hotel Les Nuits in Antwerp, especially given its high ratings, 8.3 on Booking and 4.3 on Google. The room and breakfast service didn't meet my expectations.

I ended up here through an arrangement with another hotel that had overbooked my room. Even after that agreement, a receptionist tried to get me to pay. Around midnight I had to make a 3 km round trip back to the first hotel to "clarify" things. It had been clear from the start, and I felt I was dealing with a dishonest receptionist. After only four hours of sleep, the woman at reception tried to gaslight me the next morning, saying taking a credit card footprint was standard procedure. That wasn't the issue: her colleague had explicitly asked me to pay despite the agreement, which was clearly wrong. I didn't try breakfast. The rooms are okay, but there was a lot of wasted space, the atmosphere felt cold, some drapes were partly unhooked, and the shower leaked. The value for money isn't great, and I won't return.

The breakfast room was cozy and nicely decorated, and the two people who welcomed us made us feel at home straight away. We came to try the breakfast with bubbles voucher because of the food reviews and great location, and the buffet lived up to it. There was plenty to choose from, all top quality, and every item we tried was excellent in its category. The cava was fruity and balanced really well with breakfast. We also got a choice of soft boiled or scrambled eggs, fruit juices, and a delicious homemade smoothie. I suspect someone with a great eye for products is behind the menu, with a skilled team preparing everything well. A wonderful, calm place for breakfast. Highly recommend.
