We had a lovely getaway, with amazing food and a superb location. The room had no air conditioning, though, and with temperatures above 30 degrees, it took quite a while to cool it down enough to be comfortable.

It's reopened after being closed for a few years. My grandad loved this place, and now we do too. Highly recommend it.

The gardens and swimming pool are lovely, and the hotel was absolutely fine for a night. It's a nice four-star place, though not especially luxurious. The car radio in the bathroom gives you an idea of what I mean. I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back. Dinner was mixed. The pigeon was spectacular, 90 points at 46 euros, and the chocolate dessert was very good, 88 points at 15 euros. The veal was acceptable, 85 points for 34 euros. The cheese was too warm and not in its best condition, which was a shame given the big Belgian selection, 87 points at 18 euros. Food overall was okay. Service was alright, but nobody smiled or seemed to enjoy being there, and there was no real interaction with us, even though I spoke French. We had to ask three times about the wines by the glass and their prices. The selection felt uninspired, with wines that sell for 5 euros a bottle at retail being offered for 10 euros a glass. The 'kids' menu' wasn't really a kids' menu: it was pan-fried cod with vegetables. The fish was nice, but at 25 euros it should be, and it's hardly a children's dish. The restaurant has one Michelin star, and the pigeon was certainly worthy of it. The overall experience wasn't. We had a much better meal, and much better value, at the unrated St Gerlach hotel and restaurant the day before.

The staff were really friendly, and the food was great. Set in the forest, the hotel is nicely located and especially peaceful. The rooms are nice too.

A lovely spot for lunch. The meal was delicious, the setting peaceful, and the staff both professional and nice.
