The little tip first: park among the trees, midway between them, rather than right beside a trunk, or you may find bird droppings covering the car in the morning. We found the place easily with Google Maps. The gate was open, and Jos was waiting in the courtyard. He welcomed us warmly in perfect English and showed us to the apartment. On the way, he gave us thoughtful advice on places to eat, parts of Bruges to explore, and ways to avoid the biggest tourist crowds. It felt like advice from a friend. The apartment was small but charming, tastefully decorated, spotless, and instantly comfortable. It had everything we needed: a refrigerator, oven, coffee machine, sink, dishes, TV, and internet. We parked beneath tall plane and chestnut trees whose branches made a natural roof. Outside it cooled to 7-8°C at night, and it was lovely to have a well-heated home with a thermostat we could adjust until the room felt right. The hospitality, comfort, and atmosphere made Bruges feel welcoming and easy to enjoy.

The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, hob, and microwave, but no oven. There’s a big dining table, a comfortable lounge with a TV and Netflix, plenty of books, free WiFi, and a small outdoor spot with a table and chairs. The place is nicely decorated, with a large double bed and wardrobe space, plus a decent bathroom with a shower over the bath. It’s in a quiet residential area with parking available. Public transport links are good, and there are bikes to use if you prefer.

A grand spot for a Bruges visit. It’s a little house behind the main house and has everything you’d need. Bikes are there to use if you fancy cycling into town. You can drive to the train station, where parking is about 4€; that ticket also covers the bus into the centre.

The guest house is beautifully designed, clean, and well looked after. It’s very private, which worked well for covid19 measures. The location is great too, with walking trails nearby and easy access to the city centre. Highly recommended.
