We stayed in the Residences, the apartments beside the main hotel, and had access to the hotel’s services and benefits. The staff helped us with several things and showed an impressive service culture. A venue in the heart of Bruges with outstanding comfort, service and quality. We couldn’t fault it.

We stayed at the Residence in May 2026 and ran into numerous problems. I contacted the hotel to try to find a solution. The fridge, bathroom mirror, toilet roll holder, extractor fan, and plug in the right sink were all broken. The teabags weren’t replenished, and there were few amenities: no drinks, milk, hair dryer or ironing board. The double bed was two single beds pushed together, and the pillows were small cushions rather than full-length bed pillows. The hotel replied: “We would like to kindly clarify that Dukes’ Palace and Dukes’ Residence are two separate accommodation concepts within the Dukes’ Collection. While guests of Dukes’ Residence enjoy access to certain facilities and services at Dukes’ Palace, including breakfast and the lounge area, the Residence offers a different room category and level of amenities compared to the main five-star hotel experience at Dukes’ Palace itself”. Dukes’ Palace and Dukes’ Residence are separate accommodation concepts within the Dukes’ Collection. Keep that in mind when booking. For a flawless stay, choose the main hotel; for value for money, book elsewhere. The Residence needs a lot of maintenance.

The ground-level residence room was spacious and well appointed, with its own entrance off a lovely courtyard. The main hotel and residence are in a quiet area but still close to the main streets. We had a jacuzzi tub as well as a stand-up shower. I tried a bath, but couldn’t work out how to turn down the jets, and with them running it wasn’t relaxing. There were buttons, but most didn’t seem to do anything. Some instructions would help. The outdoor area should be nice once the weather warms up and furniture is added. While we were there, the weather kept changing. On our first night the thermostat was locked, so we couldn’t lower the heat. A front desk gentleman said it was supposed to be that way and would cool automatically at 10pm, but it didn’t. It made for a very uncomfortable night. We asked again the next day and the thermostat was unlocked. I’m glad we checked again, but the misinformation was disappointing. At check-in we were told breakfast was included, then the host said it wasn’t when we went in the morning. Reception confirmed it wasn’t. It wasn’t a big deal, but the gentleman who told us breakfast was included was the same person who gave us the wrong thermostat information. He had a trainee tag, so we left feedback with another reception person to pass on to the manager. We never heard back, and hope they addressed it. We’d definitely stay again, though the service aspect was disappointing.

Lovely, clean room and a comfortable bed, with very friendly staff at the Dukes Palace campus. It’s ideally placed for getting around on foot. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is beautiful and perfectly placed for visiting the attractions in central Bruges. Staff were ready to help with anything. We’d booked a ‘classic’ room in the residence, but at check-in they told us we’d been upgraded for free to a premium room. It was immaculate and very spacious, with a large jacuzzi bath. Breakfast, served from 7:30-10:30, was excellent. I’d recommend this hotel to anybody, 5*.
