It’s a small hotel with loads of character, ideally placed for exploring Bruges. The communal lounge is excellent, and the honesty bar is great.

The staff were nice, and the rooms were good. It’s right in the Historical Center, which is a lovely location. There’s no breakfast, but you’ll find lots of options nearby.

The view was amazing, with two beautiful cathedrals right outside the window, and the hotel sits right in the city center. I also liked its authentic, very “Brugge” look. Room #8 was spacious, including the bathroom, and the bed was soft and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, with shampoo, shower gel and hand soap, and I liked the tiny window in there. Some furniture needs refreshing. The bedside tables looked really ugly and completely broken, as did the big table by the window, and even small changes would make the room more comfortable. I also wish the carpet had been cleaned more carefully.

The location is superb and very central, though Brugge itself is quite small. The building is old but fairly modern inside, and the room was warm and comfortable. The receptionists were friendly. I wouldn’t return, though, because of the cleaning and the curtains. The room looked clean at first, but there was loads of dust on the shelves and on top of the speaker and TV, and the room and bathroom need a deep clean. There was mold in the shower corner, even though it was wiped down daily, which made me question how thorough the cleaning was elsewhere. The communal toilet wasn’t cleaned at all between our Friday arrival and Sunday afternoon departure. I even found the paper towels and put them out myself. The urinal was gross. The communal drinks station was poorly maintained too. The kettle was nasty, there was no water source, and it wasn’t clear where to get water. There was never a receptionist around to ask. The receptionist was only there briefly in the morning. Generally, treats were okay, but technically a reception has to be manned 24/7 for it to be a hotel, so this felt more like a bed and breakfast. The sheer bedroom curtains were the real dealbreaker. You can see out during the day and through them at night, leaving you on display. One morning, people from a neighbouring room walked around on their balcony where I could see them from my bed. Look carefully at the posted picture and you can see them. I took it while lying in bed. I never saw anyone at reception to complain, and nobody asked about my stay when I checked out, so I’m raising it here.
