The Pand Hotel

The staff were the best part of our stay at The Pand Hotel, so friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was exquisite, and the parlor and bar were beautiful, welcoming spaces. It also felt like a great retreat from how busy Bruges can get. We loved it.

We’d absolutely stay here again. The service was exceptional, and the hotel went out of its way to make things comfortable. The rooms are cute and cozy, and the location is very central. A truly lovely place.

The central but quiet location gets a 10 from me. I chose The Pand for two nights after reading the good reviews and because I like small boutique hotels. Here’s how the rest went: The Charming room was quite small, but the bed was comfortable, so 9. The bathroom gets 8: ours had a high bathtub instead of a shower, which was hard for elderly people to get into and a bit dangerous getting out. A suitable stool might help. There was no curtain or glass screen, so it was easy to make a mess unless you were very careful. Breakfast was a 9, though there wasn’t much variety: no cakes, muffins, scones, or pastries. Noise gets an 8. The rooms aren’t soundproof, and in the morning we could hear people talking in the corridor and the maid’s vacuum cleaner. The atmosphere was an 8, mainly because the lobby and living room didn’t feel as warm as I expected. The breakfast room was cold at 9 a.m. Personnel get a 9 for being helpful, though the reception desk was often empty and we had to call someone. I’d have given cleanliness a 10 because they changed everything on the second day, sheets, towels, even slippers, which felt like a bit much. But I’d had tea and a croissant in bed, and crumbs fell beside it. When I got back to the fresh, tidy room, the crumbs were still there.
