I never got to stay here, and my review is about dealing with the proprietor. A train strike meant that 90% of trains from Amsterdam to Brussels were cancelled with little or no warning on our arrival day. Because check-in hours are very limited, I told them our scheduled train had been cancelled and that I’d update them as soon as we knew our arrival time. I understood the rules and was just trying to keep communication open, but the reply was rude and accusatory. They could accommodate us arriving an hour late, but that train was cancelled too, so we had to cancel the booking and pay in full. I didn’t ask for a refund because I understand the rules. I’m leaving a negative review because of how rudely I was treated while trying to find a solution. Travel disruptions happen, especially when arriving in a major city, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here if something goes wrong on your way in.

We had almost 700 km to travel to get there, but were told we could arrive only during the one-hour window from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nobody would be there before or after. When we asked where we were supposed to stay overnight if traffic delayed us, the answer was that we could cancel if we didn’t like it. Absolutely outrageous. I hope customer service in Belgium isn’t usually like this. The price was relatively good, but I definitely can’t recommend the hotel. This is no way to treat customers.

The common room, which also serves breakfast, is beautiful and a lovely spot to relax or socialize. This Bed'n Breakfast is in a gorgeous Brussels house that’s been recently renovated very well. It’s close to a pedestrian shopping street and Rogier metro station, and the main tourist sights are walkable, with Grande Place about ten minutes away. The rooms are tastefully decorated, very comfortable, and clean, with features like a memory foam mattress. A really good find in Brussels, and a great alternative to the nearby 4 * hotels.

The owners wouldn’t make any allowance for our train schedule. We were travelling between countries and asked if they could keep check-in open until 6 pm, but got an extremely rude, disrespectful note saying the rules were the rules. Their check-in window is only 2-5 pm, which seems absurd for a hotel. We had to find somewhere else to stay so we wouldn’t be homeless for the night in Brussels, and they didn’t refund us. I can’t comment on the rooms or the stay itself, but if your travel timing might change, don’t book here. I expect the owner will leave a terse reply, like they have on other reviews.
