B-aparthotel Grand Place

The apartment hotel is in a practical enough spot, with a supermarket selling fresh food right next door, and the room is really, really nice. The elevator is especially pleasant, with marble floors and a mirror, and it shows good places to visit, which we used. There were no problems getting into the apartment hotel, but there was no staff anywhere in sight. The walk from the airport or train station takes you through an alleyway that smells pretty unpleasant. The TV is old and barely works, though it has lots of channels. It's good overall, just not my favorite.

The location is the best part, and the apartment itself is good. The king-size bed is comfortable, the internet worked perfectly, and the Ritual shower and bath products were just right. The pull-out sofa in the living room, though, isn't very comfortable. The aparthotel is quiet inside, but you hear too much noise from outdoors. I'd avoid choosing a room that faces the main street.

The bathroom leaked, and there were drunk people at the entrance at night. That's acceptable, I suppose, given the location. The service was zero, though, and this was the worst experience I've had. They never sent the lock code, then put all the responsibility on me when I arrived and found nobody there to help or hand over keys. After I'd paid more than 750€ for 4 nights, they locked me out of the room over a mistake with the city tax, just 20€, less than 3% of the total. All my things were inside. I had to bother another guest to call the service because my phone was in the room. I'd only gone out for breakfast. They wouldn't let me simply pay the tax with a disposable card at a card machine. They wanted my regular card so they could keep all my data, and that was the issue. It was a waste of time and money. Not recommended.

The best thing is the location, within walking distance of the city center. I stayed on the nights of 30th and 31st August 2025, Saturday and Sunday, and won't return. I booked through BOOKING.COM. After full payment and confirmation, they emailed me saying I had to complete self check-in 48 hours before arrival to keep my key active and use the room on the second day. Their check-in sent me to a website, not BOOKING.COM, where I was expected to share my credit card details with a site whose credentials I didn't know. That made me worry about security and privacy. They also said a 250 euro refundable deposit would be deducted from the card, and revealed a long list of rules only after payment. Break one and they'd deny access without a refund. Very clever. Maybe this is the future of hotels, but it isn't for me. There's no reception, no people around, and I felt alone, spooked and uneasy. There's no restaurant on site either. The savings from not having a reception or restaurant don't seem to be passed on to the customer. If you like solving clues and mysteries on your own just to get into your accommodation, this could suit you. I felt it could be a recipe for disaster in an emergency. If you want a normal stay with people around to help if something goes wrong, find somewhere else. Make an informed decision before booking.
