The reception was friendly and the rooms were clean, right beside the train station. I was there on business for 2 nights. The rooms and amenities were very basic, and they definitely smelled of smoke. The shower door was broken, and the water kept changing from boiling hot to cold. I woke up with unusual bites on my arm, which has never happened before, so I'm expecting bed bugs. It was fine as somewhere to put my head down for the night.

For the price, this is easily the best-value 3- or 4-star place I've found in Brussels. My single room was clean and roomy, the bathroom was big, and the shower had plenty of pressure. Even the TV worked properly. Nothing to complain about.

For a weekend at this price, it does the job. There are places to eat nearby, and both the metro and Brussels Nord station are a short walk away. Nord is especially handy if you're taking the Eurostar. Room 308 was let down by a terrible spring mattress; I could feel the springs on one side. Fine for a brief stay.

We mentioned the issues to the hotel, and they said they were looking into them. The main one was a damp, mouldy smell in the shower room, mostly because there was no ventilation. There was also no bedside lamp shade and no power socket beside the bed.

We had a good short break here, and the hotel was clean throughout. Breakfast was fantastic, with everything you'd want. The only awkward thing was where the sockets were: some were behind the curtains, and the one I needed for the kettle meant putting it on the floor.
