I didn’t feel comfortable during my two nights there. Everyone seemed to return at once and leave around the same time in the morning, so finding a free shower or toilet could be difficult. There were no lockers for belongings, and the showers felt very dorm-like, with just a stool inside. Everything in the stall gets wet, so changing there isn’t an option. Bring shower shoes, or shoes to wear around the room. The hostel is right by the train station, which is convenient, but the area felt rough, and I wouldn’t recommend walking there from the station at night. That was the only positive for me. The rooms were small, with just one outlet for the whole room and an extension cord for others, so you weren’t guaranteed a place to charge devices, and alarms could be an issue. It didn’t look very clean either. Breakfast was meager: toast, butter, jam, biscuits, and cereal, with no fruit, cheese, or meat, so it could feel pretty dry.

We booked a separate room for three and had our own well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals. The hostel had a nice atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly. The included breakfast was a standard buffet. We had a great experience and would definitely come back.

The bar was a nice bonus, well stocked and serving until midnight. We went in early June as a group of 12 on a university trip, and the place was nice and clean, with very helpful, friendly staff. There were maps and information about city activities at reception. It’s a 30-40 minute walk to Brussels centre, or you can take the tram from the stop about a minute up the road. The atmosphere was very friendly, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We stayed three nights in a private room. The hostel was clean and quiet, and our room was a good size, with a reasonably decent bed by hostel standards. The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast options were decent, and the bar was a nice touch. It’s quite far from Brussels’ attractions, but Hello Hostel offered a good stay for the price, especially compared with how expensive other hostels in the city are. I found renting a scooter or bike made getting to and from the town centre much quicker.
