Holiday Inn Express Brussels - Grand-Place by IHG

Free breakfast, a good central location and easy access to the places I wanted to visit, that’s what this Holiday Inn Express had going for it. When you travel, it pays to choose carefully, but I don’t think an expensive hotel is worth it. I’m not on vacation to spend all my time in a room. I just want somewhere clean and nice where I can sleep. The room was nice, just a tad small. If it had been a bit bigger, I’d have given it 5 stars. Still, it’s a good hotel in a great location if you want to save a few bucks in Brussels.

The only snag was that the room started off a bit cold. The thermostat only goes up to 23°C, and it takes a while to warm up, especially in winter. Otherwise, no major complaints, and it’s great value for the price. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and its location is great if you’re planning to visit the Place Sainte-Catherine Christmas markets.

Everyone was really nice and attentive, and we had a good stay. Breakfast was great. The one thing that made us uncomfortable happened on our last day. My mother was coming back to the room when she saw a woman entering. My mother told her I was inside using the bathroom, but she went in anyway and said she needed to change the shampoo bottles. It was extremely uncomfortable for both of us, especially since the do not disturb sign was on the door and we were checking out in 2 hours. We didn’t expect anyone to come in, and changing the shampoo could have waited until we checked out.

For a fair price, you get spacious rooms, excellent service and a rich breakfast. The hotel also makes it easy to explore nearby attractions and find restaurants for a tasty snack, like popular belgian waffles. If you’re coming to Brussels to see the city, this place is perfect.
