Hotel La Légende

The studio was dusty, like it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. We let it go at the time, thinking maybe studio rooms weren't used as often. After checkout, though, my wife and I both found bed bug bites, 40-60 each. The photo was taken after two weeks of recovery.

The room was clean and a good size, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location made it easy to explore the city on foot. The room itself felt bare and tired, though, with no pictures on the walls and little attention to detail. The bathroom was very plain, with a small box shower, but it was clean. The good points outweigh the drawbacks, so I'd be happy to stay here again.

The shower has no curtain, so the whole bathroom gets flooded when you use it. The room is microscopic, basically just a bed and a narrow path beside it to the bathroom. Brussels is sometimes called Europe's capital because of all the EU institutions, but a place like this is no welcome for any capital, especially that one. They should call the hotel “La Japan.” Definitely avoid.

Breakfast was outstanding. The staff went out of their way to make me a hot omelette, and there was a good spread of cereal, milk, cold cuts, cheeses, fresh fruit, bread, yogurt, coffee, tea, orange and apple juice, and jellies. I stayed for five days and really enjoyed it. The hotel felt worth the money and like an excellent value. My courtyard room was very small, but the staff greeted me warmly and made me feel at home. The internet worked great, and those hot morning showers felt wonderful after chilly, damp, rainy Brussels. It's about an 8 minute walk from the train station with connections to the airport and other Belgian cities.
