Neufchatel Belgian Hotel

The staff were friendly and polite, but the room needs urgent attention. Room 41’s bathroom drain smelled so foul and strong that it woke me at night, and the broken toilet flush kept refilling every few minutes, making constant noise. It was basically impossible to sleep. I also noticed a visibly dirty blue fixture on the wall behind the bed, which made me question the cleanliness. Unfortunately, my stay at Hotel Neufchatel wasn’t pleasant.

The breakfast was a highlight for me: a full English spread, with bacon, beans, and scrambled eggs cooked just right. The hotel is in St-Gilles, with easy public transport into the centrum, and late check-in after 10PM was really handy. My room was roomy and clean, though the Comfort Single Room had a smaller single bed than the website showed. It was comfortable, at least. Good value for the price, and I’d happily stay here again.

The staff were the best I’ve come across in all the hotels I’ve stayed at, seriously friendly. In the evening they give away bakery left from breakfast, and it still tastes good. The rooms were smaller than I expected, but clean, cozy, and well equipped. Old city is about a 15-20 minute walk away, so the location works well.

I booked the wrong Tuesday by mistake for a weekend stay the following week, and they wouldn’t change the booking or refund me. I still needed somewhere to stay when I got to Brussels, so I had to book another hotel. That was 300 euros wasted. A horrible business and a terrible customer service experience.
