DC Hotel

That 6am exit was rough to see: an elderly couple had just had their taxi cancelled, and from other reviews it sounds like that happens a lot. They had no choice but to walk. I’d skip the hotel and take the Flibco bus straight to or from Brussels instead. It runs every 20 minutes and seemed dependable. People mention getting into the airport without the 50 minute walk. Technically there is a way, but it’s a staff-only entrance and we were told we couldn’t use it. The rest of the route is fenced off. Our room was tired and neglected, with a broken TV, no air conditioning, and midges. The staff were friendly enough and came when we rang the bell.

I watched the receptionist lock a 70-year-old woman out. He also told us to book a taxi, claiming the airport was 4km away instead of 800m, despite advertising it as 800m and being very close. We walked, and it really was only 800m. The service was terrible. They lock people out and mislead you about needing a taxi. Maybe they have some arrangement with the drivers, but that’s just my guess. I’ll never book a room at a dc hotel again. I hope the receptionist gets fired.

The rooms are on the small side, but for a one-night stay that was fine. The location is really close to the airport, and there’s a shuttle service at nearly every hour.

There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, and the staff in the morning were uncooperative and nearly rude. They also charge 20 euros for the shuttle to the hotel, after 20 Euros for the ride to the city. There wasn’t any water, coffee, or anything else in the room. One of my worst stays. The location seems brilliant on paper, since the airport is 1 km away as the crow flies, but fencing makes getting there a Herculean task. We arrived at Brussels Charleroi Airport to find an empty lobby and a locked door. A resident who also couldn’t get in helped us get inside. There was still nobody at reception, just envelopes with our room cards left there. What if someone else had taken my room? I wouldn’t recommend it. If you arrive late, take a bus into Brussels and stay there.
