We've made this an annual trip for years, first while living in Singapore and now from the UK, and it was great to return again. The owner and staff are lovely and always make us feel welcome. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and well equipped, and we really enjoyed dinner. The chef deserves credit. Hotel Royal is in an excellent location, and we're looking forward to coming back.

The reception staff were abrupt and quite rude. We booked directly for the “extra special offers,” but were told at noon that check-in wasn't possible until 2pm. The website listed parking at 15 Euros, while reception quoted 30. Street parking costs 25 for the day. Our room was small and poorly designed, and there were two A4 pages of house rules. We noticed a TV on and went looking for the nuxe, which we think we found. Within 30 seconds, reception approached us in a fairly aggressive tone to ask what we were doing there. We also tried to find the gym, only to be told it was fully booked by guests paying for spa facilities. That left the free map as the only perk we thought we could use, but we didn't even get that. We were given conflicting checkout times: reception said 10, the sheet on the room wall said 10.30, and the guest book said 11. Breakfast was alright, but be careful with the eggs because you have to cook them yourself. Some people didn't realize and got raw egg everywhere.
