We were right in the center, with lots of restaurants, cafes and landmarks nearby, which worked perfectly for us. The room was clean and spacious, and the host was friendly and very helpful. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting gent, and I'd definitely stay here again.

The room was on the top floor, where the WiFi wouldn't work, and the whole building smelled musty. The host was terribly rude and seemed irritated whenever we asked for anything. The bathroom was just okay, but its water heater made a lot of noise, and the towels smelled damp. The kettle looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in ages, see photos. Stained, torn curtains, scratches on the headboard and walls, and a balcony door that wouldn't shut properly made the room cold without the heating. The host had told me there was free coffee in the breakfast room all day, but I was shocked to find moldy cream for it. A pretty gross place.

On a spontaneous last-minute trip to Ghent, I booked this place and had a lovely stay. The owner was great and very helpful, and I loved having a bath in my room. The city center was just a short walk away.

They refused to let me in because I arrived too late for the staff, who had clearly gone home early. They say I wasn't at the hotel front door, but that's completely made up. I had to find another hotel, and luckily there was an IBIS just up the street. I never stayed here, yet they still refuse to refund my prepaid room. Disgraceful ownership. Shame on you La Ducale, you thieves. Shame. This is the nonsense they sent me the evening I arrived. Is booking here a risk you're willing to take? I wouldn't recommend it. The IBIS up the street is much better value and has nicer views. ''Dear Edward, After I sent you my previous email, it took me more than an hour to fall asleep. I was not relaxed because of you, and I kept waiting to hear the doorbell. I am sorry to tell you, but you did not ring the doorbell. I checked the camera recording of my door, but I did not see you in front of it. There is a big B§B sign and a large number 54. We are on the most beautiful and central street in Gent, and on average 15 people find me every day without any problem. Thank you for understanding me! Kind regards, Dina''

Dina was a wonderful host, really lovely and made time for a chat. The place has lots of charm and a lovely breakfast. It's very close to the tram line and old Ghent. I'll definitely stay here next time.
