Be careful about booking here. My confirmed reservation for August was cancelled suddenly after the property decided to host a wedding and wanted the whole place for the event. I wouldn’t rely on a B&B that cancels guest bookings later for private events when making travel plans. Response: Thanks for replying. My concern, as I said in the review, is simply that a confirmed booking was cancelled because the property later chose to host a private event. Six months’ notice might generally seem like enough, but that weekend overlaps with a major local music festival. Accommodation is very limited then and significantly more expensive, so finding a suitable alternative at short notice wasn’t straightforward and cost me extra. I meant the review as constructive feedback and wanted future travellers to know what happened when they’re planning around a confirmed reservation. Thank you.

The room looked neglected, with dusty furniture and some broken pieces, and we had no hot water. That meant we couldn’t shower before dinner and disrupted our plans. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and hoped for a relaxing, special stay, but the €220 per night rate made the lack of care harder to accept. We booked partly for the pool, but it was green and full of leaves and insects. Staff said it was safe, though it didn’t look clean or inviting, so we didn’t swim. Check-in wasn’t until 4 PM, and when we asked for a slightly later checkout than 11 AM to make up for the lost time, our request was declined. The setting has potential, but better maintenance and hospitality are needed.

The hosts were warm and helpful, doing what they could to make our stay pleasant. We loved the spacious outdoor area, with wildlife to spot wherever you looked, and the newly renovated interiors had plenty of charm and character. Maison Mairie feels like a chateau oasis close to Hasselt’s city center. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We booked a romantic weekend, and the room was perfect. It felt like a fairytale, and I hadn’t had such a good stay in a long time. The owners were sweet and helpful, and they even arranged something for the birthday. I’d recommend it to a friend, and we’ll definitely come back. Thank you!

The breakfast was excellent, and the hosts were lively and polite. The house is magnificent, with a fairytale-like park, and the stay had a lovely mix of family atmosphere and luxury. We’re full of gratitude for this dreamlike experience. Thanks so much for everything! AC
