Les Grisons

Lovely owners and a beautiful setting. The breakfast was delicious!

Breakfast was a real highlight, and at €20 per person it felt well worth the price. The bread and pastries came from the village bakery, with homemade jams and crepes from the guesthouse chef, plus fresh fruit salad and orange juice. The coffee was excellent, and there were local cheeses and charcuterie for anyone wanting something savory. You can ask for eggs, too. The owners were charming and welcoming when we spoke with them, and they have some exciting projects planned. We stayed in the “New” studio for a romantic weekend. It has a kitchenette with an oven, microwave, fridge, stovetop, and coffee maker, plus a high table, a shower room with toilet, a reasonably comfortable double bed, and a TV with all channels, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more. There’s no sitting area despite what Booking.com mentioned, which was a shame. The studio looks out over the pool behind the property and the rest of the grounds. We couldn’t use the pool because the weather was unpredictable. The location was a bit disappointing: it’s beside a road that gets quite busy during the day, though it’s relatively quiet at night. The guesthouse doesn’t currently serve meals, so you need to go into the village or farther away to eat. Val Joli and Le Tank were recommended. We had a pleasant short stay despite a few minor drawbacks and things we felt guests should know about, but the room rates seemed a little high for the services provided.

The house has been renovated really well, with tasteful decor and carefully chosen materials. Our studio was spotless and spacious, with good equipment, a terrace, a small garden, and a great view. We arrived by bike, and leaving the bikes overnight was no problem. There’s a garage if needed. Daphné and Bernard gave us a very warm welcome in Grisons. After dinner at a restaurant in nearby Celles, a pretty little village, Bernard was waiting for us. He even opened a bottle of Madiran so we could keep getting to know each other and share stories and bits of life. It was a lovely, friendly evening. We arrived too late to use the pool, though it looked very tempting. Breakfast was generous, with jam, pastries, bread, cheese, cold cuts, eggs, cereal, yogurt, and really everything you could want. A great find, highly recommended!

We came looking for some peace and quiet and felt like we were in heaven. A magnificent place, such a fantastic welcome, and an amazing lunch. We’ll be back.
