Hotel Approach

I booked a room with my service dog and was charged €39 for him. When I explained that he was a service dog, the employee took off his glasses, looked at me and said I wasn't disabled, then asked what I had. I politely offered to show my documents, but he refused to read them. He also insulted me for booking one night, saying he could have rented the room for two nights. I called the police because I felt this man had a problem. When they arrived to talk, he became furious and yelled at them that he was from Vlaams Blok and they could arrest him if they wanted. The police then came to me and asked me to leave for my own safety. I lost €199. He shouted that he'd call hotels in Knokke about me. I'm traumatised, and I'm going to court.

The owner made the stay a complete disaster: he came across as rude and nearly aggressive, with no interest in service or listening to a concern. He just sat drinking coffee and wine with his family. The prices were steep too: €6 for a small bottle of water, €30 for 'breakfast', and €6 for each coffee pod, though a pack like an Nespresso set is usually about €3 for 22. There was no parking for SUVs either. Calling this a four-star hotel is a long way off. Never again.

The room was very nice, though the view was of the construction site next door. The staff were having friends over, partying and smoking inside the hotel, which was odd, but they were extremely nice and tried to meet all our requests. The food, though, was wildly expensive for no reason: melon and ham cost €45, and the caprese was €35 for what was just mozzarella and tomato on a plate.

The rooms are cosy and have what you need, with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The restaurant felt overpriced and empty, and bringing your own food or drinks is strictly forbidden.
