We never got checked in. We booked through Booking.com, and on the day we were due to arrive, the owners texted to say the booking was cancelled. We called to ask what was going on and explained that we were already in Belgium and planned to arrive later that day. They then said there was no problem and that they’d only thought we weren’t coming, so the booking was still on. But when we reached the property that afternoon, nobody was there to let us in, and there were no keys or entry code. We called the owners, but they didn’t answer. Booking.com told us they had a 45-minute wait policy to give the owners the benefit of the doubt. We explained that the owners had tried to cancel ahead of time, that the place seemed empty with no other guests, and that it felt as though they wanted us gone rather than keep the place open for just one room over the weekend. Booking.com eventually got through to them. The owners continued to ignore our calls and told Booking.com they thought we were scammers or something. In the end, Booking.com helped us find somewhere else. The owners keep flagging this review as off-topic, offensive, obscene or profane, or hate speech.

We booked through Booking.com, but on check-in day the owners texted that our reservation was cancelled. We called to ask what that meant and told them we were already in Belgium and would arrive later. They said they’d assumed we weren’t coming, but that the booking was fine after all. When we got to the property that afternoon, there was nobody to let us in and no key or code had been left. The owners didn’t pick up when we called. Booking.com said its policy was to wait 45 minutes to give them the benefit of the doubt. We explained that the owners had tried to cancel before we arrived, the place looked empty, and we suspected they wanted to get rid of us rather than keep things open for one room over the weekend. Booking.com eventually reached them. They still weren’t answering our calls, and told the company they thought we were scammers or something. We had to find another place with Booking.com’s help.

The lofts are beautiful and the location is very quiet. The hostess welcomed us so warmly!
