Hotel Dolce La Hulpe Brussels

The location beside La Hulpe forest is a real draw, with hiking trails just steps away. The bar has a pleasant feel, and although the restaurant menu is somewhat limited, the staff there were incredibly sweet and attentive. Our Deluxe room was comfortable and had a lovely forest view, but it felt a bit dated. There was no mini-fridge, and the bathroom slider was damaged. One day the room wasn’t cleaned, even though we hadn’t put out a do not disturb sign. My main concern was the delay in releasing the funds held at check-in. It took over a week, despite our bill being settled when we left.

The forest and the reception staff were highlights, and there were child-friendly activities like volleyball and table tennis. The hotel itself was pleasant, in a great location, and well worth visiting again. A few things could be better: the in-room coffee wasn’t the quality I expected, and good coffee in a hotel room matters a lot to me. I put out the room-cleaning tag and spoke to a woman on the floor, but nobody came. They eventually offered a voucher, though I wanted fresh towels. I did get towels, but ended up with two batches, one set wet along with the robes from my pool trip, which wasn’t handy. You also have to book to use the pool, which I don’t think should be necessary, but it’s worth knowing.

The hotel itself is good, but the restaurant was terrible. I’d come back if the restaurant were better.

The room was decent, but it had no minibar and the toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly. There were dirty marks on the seat and in the shower. The extra blanket was only 90 cm, tucked into a 2 m sheet. The spa setup was confusing, and the space felt small and cramped. Treatments are available, but the prices are high. I wouldn’t pay €130 for a 50-minute massage or €190 for 80 minutes. Breakfast was a mixed bag. The pancakes and coffee were okay, though the coffee could be better. The fruit wasn’t fresh and tasted bad, while the beans and eggs seemed reheated from the day before. This could be a nice quiet weekend for couples or families wanting to relax. With friends, I wouldn’t recommend it: the atmosphere is geared toward couples, there isn’t much going on, and it’s easy to get bored if you want a lively or social trip. At the restaurant, we waited about 20 minutes just to get the à la carte menu, and the seating felt awkward and uninviting. Reception was disappointing too. Staff gave very little information, and their brief answers to follow-up questions weren’t helpful. The check-in and check-out queues were surprisingly long.
