Nena Guesthouse

Really nice!

At 7:40am I messaged the owner, then followed up by phone and said I'd arrive after work, around 5pm. She confirmed everything was fine, including a parking spot, and said she still had to clean the room. Then, at 4:40pm, I got an email saying both rooms had already been booked through booking.com and mine was no longer available. That's nearly nine hours after our conversation. Completely ridiculous and unpredictable. Be careful with this owner.

We could cycle to Leuven's centre in about 10 minutes using the city bikes, and the city itself has beautiful old streets and squares, with plenty of food and drinks on its big outdoor terrace. The hostess was friendly and helpful. Our first-floor room was fine, with modern bathroom facilities. Breakfast is at the table downstairs, but you have to arrange it yourself, with a bakery about 500 metres away by bike. Pick up other groceries at the supermarket the next day. If you're driving an electric car, there's a charging point around the corner. We plugged in right after check-in, then unplugged in the evening and parked outside the door for the return trip.

The studios are clean, nicely finished, and reasonably priced. Communication with the landlady was excellent. The location is great, with bus links nearby and the Leuven station not far away.
