It's very convenient for sightseeing, with a good bed and a clean room. The hotel is near the city's opera house, right in town, and within easy walking distance of the train station, Christmas market, and other attractions. There's a shopping mall across the street, plus KFC, McDonald's, and plenty of restaurants nearby. The area directly outside looks a little messy, with some closed shops and homeless people living there, but it didn't feel scary. Staff are at the front desk all the time, which made it feel quite safe. My room was on the sixth floor at the back, so it was quiet, with little noise from outside or other rooms. The hotel has quite a few rooms, but they felt well designed and not crowded. I could see the city's church from my room. I was given a very large room, probably one intended for wheelchair access, with an incredibly spacious bathroom. There's no partition in the bathroom, though, and the shower and toilet share the space, so the whole room gets wet when you shower. The room layout is a bit strange, L-shaped, with a window and sofa area, but the sofa faces the wall. There's also a table and chair, a spot for luggage, a cabinet with a fan inside, and a clothes hanger. The bed was okay and comfortable enough to sleep on. The shower has a showerhead, and toiletries come in pump bottles. The window opens, and with it open the room still didn't smell of smoke or anything from outside.

The shower wouldn't drain, so I had to stand in water mixed with shampoo and, most likely, hair from earlier guests. The mattress smelled like an old, uncleaned drain, and the room hadn't been cleaned properly. Dust covered the tables and even the lamps that didn't work. The rooms are carpeted, which could be nice if they were actually cleaned. I was puzzled by the “No drugs” sign in the room until I stepped outside for a cigarette and saw two junkies being arrested right in front of the hotel. Breakfast was somewhat okay, but anyone vegan or with dietary restrictions should avoid booking it. You could bring your own food, but there's no fridge in the room. By then you can probably imagine how it felt, and yes, I absolutely felt bed bugs crawling on my skin.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is in a great spot in Liege city center. But the room was far too warm, there was no air conditioning, and the windows couldn't be opened, so fresh air couldn't get in. Breakfast was okay, though both days we had to ask for forks and knives, and for more bread and bacon. The person responsible should be checking the food and cutlery supply. It shouldn't be that difficult, right?

I'm spending my last night here now, and this is my third or fourth stay. The location is ideal if you're visiting, as the name says, right in the center. Still, what makes me write a review is the staff. I stay in a lot of hotels and only write when I'm especially pleased with the people working there. Everyone here is as professional and welcoming as staff at a five-star hotel. If you're choosing between places of similar quality nearby, I'd strongly suggest booking here. You'll probably reach the same conclusion. Thanks so much to the staff for everything. See you next time. WL

We had a great stay and felt very welcome. The rooms were clean and quiet, so we slept well. It's a good location and a great place to stay for the Christmas markets.
