Residence Inn Brussels Airport

The service was absent throughout dinner. Nobody checked whether the meal was all right. Worse, as I finished eating, I saw a kitchen staff member take food from a microwaved container and plate it. Reheating prepared meals and serving them as restaurant dishes is unacceptable, especially at these prices. I paid €22.00 for braised beef that was only okay, not tender or what I'd expect at a Marriott property. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box and were lukewarm. The meal was forgettable and clearly overpriced for what seemed to be reheated, low-quality food. A poor dining experience, and I wouldn't recommend eating here.

The room was spacious, comfortable and generally well kept, and the staff were pleasant and professional during my stay. Still, when I arrived, the previous guest's trash was still there. That raised housekeeping concerns and left me wondering whether the linens had been changed properly. There's no airport shuttle, which is a significant omission for a hotel presented as an airport property. With better attention to cleaning and a shuttle service, it could be a stronger option. As it is, the stay was okay, with room to improve.

Everything else was great, but the room felt cold when I returned in the afternoons or evenings during February, at 17 Celsius. After I turned on the heating, it took about 15-20 minutes to reach 21-22 Celsius.

On the last morning of my two-night visit, housekeeping knocked at 10 a.m. and impatiently asked when I was leaving. I said checkout was at 12 p.m., as the website states, and she rolled her eyes before leaving. After two busy days, I had hoped to rest a little longer. At arrival, I was told the hotel was overbooked and I might have to go to the Holiday Inn next door. The staff member even said he hoped I'd go there because another guest would be “quite angry.” It felt unprofessional and suggested that some guests mattered more than others. I wondered if overbooking happened often. I did get a room, but it was next to the elevator and noticeably noisy. I could clearly hear the main entrance door, and the bed was very hard. I expected more from a Marriott and can't recommend this hotel based on my experience.
