During a week of bike packing in Belgium, this was the best place I stayed. It’s in a historic building in Mechelen, near the cathedral and main square. I was upgraded to the suite because it was available, and it was a gorgeous room with every piece of equipment you could imagine.

We had a wonderful stay in this stunning home, with all the amenities, a lovely balcony, and a music room. The host was the most welcoming and friendly, and told us about interesting places in the city and country. Breakfast was delicious, with organic bread. If you’re going to Michelin, be sure to choose this place.

The breakfast felt just as thoughtful and personal as the rest of the place, especially the sourdough bread. And the beds are great. The bedroom has Bowers and Wilkins speakers, which alone would tempt me to book just to sit in the dark and enjoy the sound. You can feel the passion in everything here. I can’t recommend it enough, especially in lovely Mechelen.

The owner was so welcoming and accommodating, and the house itself is gorgeous. Breakfast was the highlight: a beautiful spread, with perfectly cooked eggs, crisp bacon, melon with prosciutto, preserves, fresh fruit, pastries, breads, tea, and really good coffee. It was the best complimentary breakfast I’ve had, even compared with five-star hotels. There were so many lovely things about our stay that it’s hard to describe. A great experience, and the location is great too.
