Dri les Courtils

The location is lovely, near La Roche-en-Ardenne but far enough away to escape the bustle. The people were very friendly, and the house was clean. We stayed as a group of nine, and I think the house can sleep up to 12. Some mattresses are very soft and should be replaced with better ones, especially for anyone with a weak spine. The kitchen is tiny, and serving nine was already a challenge; I can't imagine managing meals for 12 there. Getting to the house involves stairs and a big difference in height, which could be difficult for anyone less mobile. It's completely unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Anne took great care of us and made delicious food, adapting dinner and breakfast to our request for everything to be vegan. We booked a double room; it was cosy and a good size. Both the room and the gîte were beautifully decorated and felt authentic. A great place to stay for the Barrage of Nisramont hike. I really recommend it!

The house has a nice garden where you can spend time in summer, plus a comfortable living room, a bar with seating, and a kitchen with a dining area. There are three refrigerators around the house and everything was provided. It was great for our group, with lots of bathrooms and toilets, though some rooms were noisier than others. The hostess welcomed us kindly and pointed out the separate driveway at the back, which you need to know about. Parking takes some figuring out if you have several cars, and the house layout takes a little getting used to.

The common area was lovely, and the outdoor space was fantastic for our relaxing family weekend. With 15 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, plus two kitchens, this charming gîte was ideal for our family gathering. We highly recommend it. One tip: charging stations for electric vehicles are very limited in the area, so arrive with a full charge.
