Hostellerie 't Fornuis

The breakfast was a real highlight, especially being able to order eggs freshly cooked. We spent the week at an exhibition in Brussels, and without traffic the hotel was about 30-40 minutes from the Brussels expo center, sometimes less. The staff were really kind, too. There’s no central heating. The bedroom has a small electric heater, and the bathroom has an even smaller one. I’m fine with a cooler room, but I’d have liked the bathroom to be warm.

The rooms are very spacious, with a separate living room. After a long time on the road, it was nice to unwind on a sofa. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were always smiling and glad to help. I heard some road noise, though I had the windows open on a very warm night.

The restaurant food was good quality, but meals and even drinks took a long time to arrive, around 1-2 hours for food. It felt like a one-man show. Parking is right in front of the hotel. The room was okay and the bed comfortable, though the bathroom and shower looked a bit worn. Breakfast was small and basic. It works for a short stay, not really a holiday. There’s no pool or fitness room, and the lobby isn’t large.

We arrived late, but the friendly, adorable guy there waited for us and took care of everything, including breakfast. We had a very nice stay, and the breakfast was super. We’d definitely come back if we’re in the area.
