The rooms feel dated, and there’s clutter all over the place that looks like it could collect dust. Breakfast is basic. Still, it’s in a lovely quiet corner of Lafôret, near Vresse, with friendly service from the older couple who run it. Prices are about average for the area.

A nice spot for enjoying nature, with good food at fair prices and good value overall. It’s not luxurious, but the peaceful, old fashioned atmosphere makes it easy to unwind and get away from the rush of modern life.

The family and staff made the stay. They’re lovely, and everyone pitches in where needed. They even asked if we wanted leftover food so it wouldn’t be thrown away. Don’t be surprised to see a 14yo helping out. Inside, it feels more like a busy restaurant with a large lounge for relaxing with friends or family than a castle. Still, there’s an eerie sense that Knights in shining armour might have passed through centuries ago. From outside, it really does look like a beautiful castle. Dinner is à la carte, and ours was excellent: soup and bread to start, roast beef for the main, and cake for dessert. For €15, the meal was very good, and so was the view. 11/10, I’ll come back one day!

The village is lovely for a walk and some relaxation. The restaurant is spacious, though the food wasn’t that good. At dinner, my partner had to wait and remind them about his beer. The next morning they forgot my espresso too. The towels were very old and smelled bad, so bring your own, and pack slippers because the carpet is old. The hall leading to our room was narrow and smelled.

We had three good nights here. The staff are friendly, and they serve simple but good dinners and breakfast. For traditional Flemish food, eat at the hotel. If you want to eat in the village, there’s an excellent Italian place with a wood oven just over the bridge, and the best Cote d'los you can get at the end. The hotel is castle-like and very old-fashioned, with vintage carpets and curtains. Everything was relatively clean, though the rooms and hallways are dated. I liked the carpets. There’s a large, pleasant terrace where you can smoke, and they allow up to two big dogs per room. The bar and sitting room are packed with memorabilia, so much that you can barely see the barlady’s face. The Semois river and mideuropean rainforest are nearby, and we enjoyed a nice hike there. If you want a standard dinner, the hotel can provide one, just let them know before 19:00.
