The owner was pleasant, and the rooms were spacious and well equipped, with little extras like coffee, tea, and a fridge. The bed was good too. My room was quite noisy from the street, though I didn’t mind personally. Light sleepers might have trouble. There’s no long-term parking right nearby, only on the street, but Rijselpoort has a large free parking area less than a kilometer away where you can leave a car longer.

We booked a room for early May, but the coronavirus pandemic broke out, so we emailed to cancel and got no reply. We assumed it was all sorted, then more than €400 suddenly came off my Visa. That’s a lot of nerve, taking someone’s money without warning. We tried to contact them to arrange something. A voucher would have been fine if it gave us a reasonable amount of time, but that couldn’t be arranged either. Please respond so people aren’t left in the dark. A BLAME!!

The narrow stairs up to the room were a bit disappointing, but otherwise it was a great place to stay. We had two lovely rooms and a large bathroom with everything we needed, and breakfast was delicious too.

We got there at 6 pm, but the heating barely worked. I couldn’t turn it up myself because the knobs had been removed. I tried several times to reach the owners on the mobile numbers in the information folder and got no answer, so we left around 9 pm. We received no compensation at all. Scandalous. One star is too much!
