Hotel Laguna Garden

Being close to the sea was the one good thing about our stay. The staff seemed lost and unaware of what was happening. A sewage smell kept coming from the bathroom and spread through the whole room. The air conditioner was very old and noisy, making it hard to sleep, and the food and drinks were poor quality and tasted stale. It was a real disappointment.

There was no WiFi in the rooms, and the staff weren't very kind or helpful. The hotel needs renovation, and the air conditioning didn't work properly. It was April, with 7 degrees outside at night, and without working heat the room got very cold. To me, this felt like a poor two-star hotel instead of a four-star one. I won't come back.

The best parts were the location, a three-minute walk to the beach, and the daily room cleaning. Our sheets and towels were changed every day. Some rooms also had lovely east-facing views of the sunrise over the sea. This was our second year in a row here with my family. We last came in 2023, when the hotel was ordinary enough, neither bad nor particularly special. This year felt like a different place. The rooms we got were so small that the door had to open into the bathroom to let you in. Last year's rooms were better, on the left side of the elevators. The pool wasn't cleaned during our stay, and had sand, leaves and bandages in it. There were spilled drinks on the floor, and trash all over the beach. I don't know if the hotel is responsible for beach upkeep. Cleanliness was good in the rooms, but I couldn't say the same of the pool, beach, restaurant or bar. I don't understand how parents let their children into that pool. Restaurant staff were especially rude, and some couldn't understand simple English. I don't think the price matches the service or experience. The four-star rating seems odd, since it felt like a three-star all-inclusive hotel. I wouldn't recommend it, especially for families with children, because there are better hotels in the resort.

The snack bar was a big letdown. In the afternoon it only had waffles and ice cream, with none of the pizzas, salads, fries or burgers I've found at other all-inclusive resorts. There were always long queues, made worse because two hotels were being served there. The food overall was subpar and disgusting. My son and I both got sick, possibly from a bug or food poisoning, and spent two days in bed. The staff seemed uninformed, and their attentiveness fell short of what I'd expect at a four-star place. The building looked as if it may not have been renovated for up to 30 years. I'd give it two stars. I felt taken advantage of, and won't return.
