Trivia Antique Hotel

We chose the hotel because it was near the city center and airport, but away from traffic and noise. We slept peacefully, and there's a quiet seating area outside. The local village, with shops and a restaurant, is a 10-minute walk away. We arrived late, and the woman who runs the place doesn't speak English, but we got the warmest welcome of our two weeks in Bulgaria. She called people to come prepare food for us at the restaurant. That's hospitality! She even got up at 4 am to give us our airport wake-up call. Hotel Trivia Antique was one of my most unique stays in over 20 years of traveling. The building is full of history, surrounded by mature trees, and covered inside with funky paintings that make the corridors lovely to walk through. There are antiques everywhere, including statues and old limousines on the grounds. The restaurant entrance has Cuban memorabilia, which I loved. Each room has its own theme. We had the spacious Spanish room, with a four-poster bed, antiques, and a Spanish guitar. The bathroom had a large freestanding bath set among Andalusian tiles. The Indian Ragistain room was a visual delight too, with all its mirrors. We picked the room we liked when booking, and they made that possible.

It was like a horror movie. The rooms were very dirty, with dead flies and insects, and smelled awful. Never again! Hotel nightmares!

There were spiders and webs in the room, and the hotel looks like it belongs in a scary movie. If you can't find the receptionist, she's probably out front smoking.

It's a big, old building. There was a shower in the room, but no water in it. The staff only speak Bulgarian.
