The hotel is convenient for the castle and gardens, and while there’s no sea view, the water isn’t far away. It’s a comfortable place for a couple of days or a holiday in Balchik, and it’s a small family-run hotel. Jordan and his parents took over in 2017 and completely refurbished it. That’s why I’m wary of review sites like Google and Trip Adviser: old photos and reviews can’t be removed. Scroll through the photos until you reach those added in 2017.

The host was nice, and the prices were decent. The hotel isn’t in great shape, though it has potential. We felt okay staying here.

Hotel Alex has a new owner as of November 2016 and has been completely renovated. It opened on April 1, 2017. We’re looking forward to welcoming you! Best wishes, Hotel Alex team.

The cleaning could have been a bit better, but overall the stay was okay. The host was very welcoming. I’d recommend this place to anyone on a limited budget.

At least the price is low. The rooms were dirty, and the water pressure was poor. Don’t be surprised if the water stops more than ten times while you’re showering. The furniture is too small to use a laptop and have room for a mouse.
