Lighthouse Golf & Spa Apartments

The rooms were the worst part. Everything was dirty, the bathroom smelled so bad it was hard to breathe, and its door wouldn’t close. We couldn’t leave the balcony open for sea air because there was no bug net, and with the air conditioning off, the room was unbearable because of the smell. They advertise a heated outdoor pool, but it was ice cold. Staff said it heats up in summer from the sun. The so-called private beach was more than 10 minutes away by car, was public, and required a paid shuttle. My four-wheel-drive car couldn’t handle the road down to it. When I called to check something, they offered a special rate if I booked through their website instead of booking.com, so I couldn’t go back to booking.com and hurt their reviews. I told them I’d shorten my stay because things were terrible. All I got was “sorry”, with no refund or other compensation. They also call themselves pet friendly, but later mentioned using strong toxins to control bugs and keep the grass in good condition. Be careful with pets walking there, they could get seriously ill. Stay away, it’s a waste of money. PS. Their reply just proves how they lie. The seasonality information isn’t written anywhere, and hotel staff confirmed the outdoor pool has no heating system, it’s heated by the sun 😂 As for my personal taste, I asked the bell boy and then reception why they’d admitted the rooms shown to me were dirty, and they cleaned them again. Nothing was done about that awful smell. The hotel manager himself told me they treat the grass often. Whatever company they use, truly pet friendly hotels don’t spray chemicals!

The spa is the one thing that worked well for us. The massage therapists were excellent and the treatments felt genuinely high quality, but that couldn’t make up for the rest of our stay at Lighthouse Resort & Spa. We couldn’t try the golf course because it rained heavily throughout all three days. The rooms felt worn and neglected, with peeling wallpaper, a leaking shower that flooded the bathroom, and bathrobes that were only XS, threadbare and full of holes. There were no other sizes. The gym was overheated, its equipment was in poor shape, and several machines didn’t work. Service was another big disappointment. Some staff were rude and acted as though basic requests were a burden. The Asian staff, especially those in the spa, were consistently polite, professional, and helpful, which made the contrast even clearer. I couldn’t get a gym towel after forgetting my towel card in the room. There was no flexibility, just a flat refusal. The resort is in the middle of nowhere, and the all-inclusive offer felt misleading. Coca-Cola was included, but Coke Zero cost extra. Coffee in the room was charged, and bottled water wasn’t included either. That defeats the point of all inclusive. It falls short on nearly every promise. I wouldn’t come back, and I’d tell others to look elsewhere.

The food was great, and the employees were receptive, which makes it a shame the team has to work in a place that needs renovating so badly. There was mold in the bathroom, the towels smelled awful, and after using them even your skin smelled. The bathrobes looked like they were from 1900 autumn. The massage wasn’t worth the price. There was no candle or nice scent to help you relax, and the music was so quiet you could hear the wind outside more clearly. It doesn’t deserve five stars.

The staff were great and helpful, and did their best to make up for some poor management choices. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or return any time soon. The facilities are generally good, but service falls short, and the food is mediocre. The all-inclusive offer doesn’t feel like a five-star experience. At the lobby bar, paying customers could get a fresh cappuccino from a proper machine, while all-inclusive guests got a vending-machine style drink with powdered milk. You could smell the freshly ground coffee while drinking that. Bottled water was only available to buy. Otherwise, you had tap or filtered water in a glass. I understand there may be a financial reason for that, but these little choices make the whole stay feel cheap. I doubt the savings make much difference to revenue.
