The location was nice, but everything else was horrible. I found dirty women's underwear under the pillow, and the food was awful too. On the third floor, there were knocks at my door all night, and it kept opening and closing and locking and unlocking by itself. It felt like a house of horrors. I left very early in the morning. A firm no!

I’d seen lots of negative comments and they’d influenced me, but I was curious enough to check it out. There’s a new owner, the hotel is up to a good standard, and parking is free. The restaurant was beyond what I could afford, but there’s a shop about a hundred metres away, and the terrace view is enchanting. The waitresses are something to eat!

At most, this deserves one star. The rooms smell musty and the furniture is old. Food took an hour at each table after it ran out, even though it only took about 10 minutes to finish. With the buffet, they barely even asked for another serving of potatoes or three peaches. Miserly. Three stars, handed out on a whim.

When you get to Balchik, don’t miss taking a boat ride. It’s a unique experience and costs 25 leva per person for an hour. You can get the tickets at reception. I stayed at this hotel many years ago, though the Antik hotel doesn’t exist anymore. Anyway, that’s not what I wanted to talk about.
