The room looked clean and nice, with a mountain view, and the housekeeping staff did a great job. I wasn’t as happy with the food: there was plenty, but it wasn’t very tasty or varied, and even the Italian and Greek themed nights seemed adapted to local cuisine. The spa robe came at an extra cost, and the massage felt pretty pricey compared with places I’ve been before. Still, credit to the maintenance team and the cleaning ladies!

The gym was a pleasant surprise, with free weights and a multifunctional machine that let me work nearly every major muscle group. The rooms were spacious, warm, and comfortable, with a fresh smell in the room, bathroom, and corridors. Housekeeping was thorough every day, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The ski rental team stood out for being professional and patient. Meals were good, with enough day-to-day changes to keep things enjoyable. The Christmas dinner was especially well arranged, with festive dishes and thoughtful touches. I also found the stay comfortable overall and would gladly come back to Hotel Lion in Bansko.

The location is good, but the hotel is old and the service was terrible. For the price, I don’t think it’s worth staying here.

The hotel offers great value. The gondola and town are only a few minutes away on foot, and there’s also a shuttle every 10-15 minutes. The ski hire shop and bootroom are attached to the hotel. Our room was roomy and comfortable, with a good bathroom and shower, and the maids were great. Meals were good too: breakfast had the usual fruit, yoghurt, pastries and waffles, plus a full English. At dinner there were soups, a big salad cart and 4-6 main dishes, including fish and vegetables, with beer and wine included. The pool and spa were excellent for everyone, and the big lounge had TVs showing EPL games.
