Hotel Avenue

The room looked like it was falling apart, with mold like abstract art and a "kitchen" without forks or water. There was no will to live in the place. The staff seemed totally indifferent, and the location was ideal if you wanted to be near absolutely nothing. It felt like a masterclass in taking the laugh out on you. This isn't a 3-star hotel, it's a 1-star social experiment you have to pay for. Avoid it at all costs.

For a short, somewhat affordable stay, it could work if you need to be near Heart & Brain hospital and aren't too fussy about cleanliness. Public transport is well connected, with bus stops close by, and the reception staff were polite. Wi-Fi was on and off but manageable. In the old hotel building, the rooms are a decent size and the mini fridge and AC worked, though both could use a deep cleanup. The furniture is old and the room a bit musty. The glass window was cracked, the toilet leaked and the walls were thin. Cleanliness was highly questionable, especially in the bathroom. If you're stuck with this location, try your luck with the new hotel building for better room options.

There are two hotels here, so check carefully which one you're booking. The deluxe one is said to be newer and better. The restaurant is reasonable for an easy meal and drink, and the breakfast buffet has enough options that you won't go hungry. It suits a short stay on the edge of town. Getting around seems handy, but the place feels far from the centre, and there's not much nearby, so you'll probably need a car.

I can barely post this because the Wi-Fi is so bad. The three-bed room has only two sockets, and only one is easy to reach. The AC unit has black mold, and I've never seen a mattress this dirty. The whole room feels like it's from the 1950s. Don't get me started on the bedbugs. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.
