Utopia Forest

The bungalows were a nightmare to stay in. They were dirty, stained, and felt unsafe. The floor wasn’t even level and actually moved. The pictures show the dirt and broken parts well enough. My anxiety got really bad while I was there. The surroundings are the only good thing. It’s a shame they don’t maintain the houses, and it felt hypocritical for the cleaning team to ask for a tip when things were that dirty.

At night the hotel looks romantic, with all the lights, a lake, and a park for kids. The breakfast buffet had cheese, meats, breads, sandwiches, fruit, sweets like eclairs, cookies and croissants, plus chocolate spread and jam. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the rooms were lovely and clean. Superb service.

The room cleaning was done well, and it’s quiet in the forest. There’s also an electric charging station, though hotel bosses park in the electric car spaces, leaving no way to charge. Those were the few positives in a stay well below expectations. We booked for 14 days and got the most distant bungalow, where there was no internet. In the villa, many walls were cracked, the door was hard to lock, and the air conditioning inside was very difficult to control. Ours was the only villa with a rather ugly street view. There’s no laundry service, and the restaurant’s service and menu are much worse than in previous years. The road to the hotel is bad, and there are lots of mosquitoes and flies. The pool is small and heavily chlorinated. A bus goes to the beach every two hours in the morning, which is quite infrequent. The nearest beach is small, and its bar is chaotic and neglected, with no lunch menu. Breakfast wasn’t reliably replenished: sometimes there were croissants, sometimes no fresh juice, and the pie was sometimes baked the day before.

We had two rooms, a double on the first floor and a studio on the third. The studio had a really strong smell from the toilet drainage, and it wasn’t replaced. We couldn’t wait to leave. The hotel is far from the sea, and people were swimming in the duck pond. We chose a room based on the photos. Wouldn’t recommend it. Only stay if you can’t find anything else.
