Dobrudja

We left in the middle of the night because we couldn’t cope with the bathroom smell. It hit us as soon as we entered, and even with the window wide open it didn’t improve. There was no mosquito screen, so we shut the window. The mattress was really uncomfortable too. Very dissatisfied.

The hotel is in a good spot, but the quality was poor. The air conditioning and TV both worked perfectly, but the sheets and blankets were old and worn. There was no water in the morning, so I washed with ice-cold water from the minibar. When I asked reception what was going on, I got only strange autistic babbling as an answer. Breakfast was dismal, with food that looked like it had been sitting out for 2-3 days. There was actually mold on the meat.

I’ve stayed here many times, in summer and winter. For winter in Dobrich, I haven’t found a better hotel. The south-facing rooms are warmer, but they’re big and take a while to heat up. Ask for an extra heater and it gets nice and warm. Breakfast is good, with something different each day. Keep your expectations in check, but if you want to feel welcome and looked after, hotel Dobrudja is the place.

We’ve come back many times because they always make us feel welcome, even when we don’t share a language. The rooms are lovely and spacious, the staff are friendly, and the location is great.
