Garmen Hills Complex

We stayed in Greenview Villa, and the courtyard gave the kids plenty of room for sports and other activities. There’s also a nice pool. Garmen Hills is in a beautiful, peaceful area, and Christophe was a really friendly, helpful host. We’d happily come back. Highly recommended!

Breakfast was a mess. We’d ordered it for one morning and were told it would arrive by 9am, but nothing showed up then. When we called, the host didn’t seem to know whether it had been made or delivered. He had us walk between the two houses a couple of times to check, and when it finally came, the mekitsi were cold. The villas also felt worn. Floors and stairs creaked loudly, which was especially hard with a baby and a toddler. Some sliding windows and doors were broken and wouldn’t shut properly, adding to the cold. In winter, the wooden and stone Blue view and Green view houses were chilly. There was one convector heater per house, but its base was broken, so it didn’t feel safe to put on the wooden floor and we could only use it in one bedroom. The other bedroom stayed at 17 degrees overnight. The hall and bathroom were cold too, with the bathroom no warmer than 18°C. Checkout was another problem. The host said he’d be there in 5-10 minutes, then arrived 30 minutes later, leaving us outside in the cold with the children. He denied saying 5-10 minutes instead of apologizing, and made dismissive comments, including that “Bulgarians are too strict.” The owner isn’t a native. We also found missing soap in some bathrooms and stink bugs in the kitchen. The houses look good in photos, but I wouldn’t recommend them in colder months. They may be better in summer, especially with the pool and large yard.

The place was lovely, and the host was great. Everything was perfect. I’d definitely go back :)

The rooms were okay, though they could have been cleaner, and the kitchen was pretty dirty. In the garden, stray cats and dogs left messes that nobody cleaned up. In person, the place didn’t look as nice or as well maintained as it did in the Booking websites photos. After our long drive the day before, it was annoying to have one of the houses being rebuilt on the property with drills and an excavator at 7am on a Saturday morning.
