Obzor Beach Resort

The setting is beautiful, with the Black Sea on one side and mountains on the other. It’s a peaceful place and especially nice if you’re after nature and a relaxing break. The staff were friendly and helpful, and kept everything clean. Our room stayed spotless throughout. The buildings feel a bit dated and could do with renovation, though the atmosphere makes up for it. Food choices were limited but tasty, and the local olives and cheeses were excellent.

The location was a 10/10, and our three-bedroom apartment had very large rooms and a sea view. That’s where the positives ended. We arrived to sand and hair on the floor and dust on the furniture. With two toddlers, we cleaned the floor ourselves every day because we couldn’t leave it dirty. We tried the steak house for dinner one night, but the waiter basically sent us away, saying the kids would starve and die before they could prepare the meal. There weren’t enough pool sunbeds for even half the guests. Towels had reserved all of them around the clock, despite the posted rule and fine. Nobody checked for five days. We left feeling like we’d stayed in a cheap Airbnb rather than a 4-star hotel, and definitely won’t return.

Obzor is a real hidden gem, and I loved the people there.

The beautiful view and beachfront location were the only good parts of this resort. We stayed in apartment B3 221, four adults and four children. It had two bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers, and enough space, thanks to two large sofa beds in the open-plan living room. We had to ask for towels, bedding, and toilet paper. They’d left only a few for around two or four people, not eight. We were kept waiting until 3 for check-in while the apartment was supposedly being cleaned. Once inside, it was clear it hadn’t been cleaned. The floor was wet, perhaps someone had swiped it with a wet mop without vacuuming first. The showers were disappointing, and we had water problems, including with the toilet. The toilet seats were broken, and the beds and sofas were disgusting. Kitchen chairs were sticky, doors were greasy, and there was dust everywhere. The coffee machine was broken, though we had brought our own anyway. The worst problems were safety issues. We found a broken electrical socket later, which could have seriously hurt a child if anyone touched it. The balcony wasn’t secure, so we didn’t let the children out there. One window panel’s safety screws were broken and the panels wobbled. Check the pictures for all of this. There’s more to say, and we’ll take our complaints further. We paid good money for a rubbish, unsafe place. Never going back.
