We enjoyed our vacation overall, but I booked late during a Bulgarian holiday and there are better places at the same price if you plan ahead. It's a 3-star hotel between two ski centers, each about a 10-minute walk away. Walking in ski suits in cold weather isn't easy. Rooms are roomy enough, but there's no shower cabin, so the whole bathroom gets wet. Breakfast and dinner were quite enough for a 3-star hotel. Meal names are only in Bulgarian, so you'll need Google Translate. Excalibur restaurant is open to the public for dinner too, and the waiters seemed busy with those customers and happy when you ate and left quickly.

We had to haul all our luggage from the main road to the hotel buildings after waiting for a parking space that the website said was available. Staff kept letting other cars in ahead of us, without following any order, even though we'd waited and asked several times why we couldn't enter. The sidewalks hadn't been cleared, so we had to walk along the road among moving cars. Our child fell under a car. We were lucky it didn't move. The service was awful.

The food at the restaurant was delicious, and the staff were absolutely professional. We loved the alpine atmosphere, modern furnished apartments, and romantic fireplace. Amazing location too, with ski-in and ski-out access from the Complex.

Stay away from The Castle 2. We paid 800$ for six nights in february 2025, booking through Booking, and got a horrible bed with a broken matress and broken shower doors. We were in room 304. Nobody came to clean the room. They only brought toilet paper, shampoo and shower gel. I spoke to a guy at reception about the broken matress, which had only 7 cm of sponge. When I went back the next day, he said he'd spoken with the "manager" and they knew about the problems, saying "it is on all beds" from The Castle 2. No apology or excuse.
