Ramada by Wyndham Plovdiv Trimontium

The lobby and shared spaces were fine, and the service was good, but the room felt old and worn. The furniture and bathroom were shabby, and it seemed like the hotel hadn’t had a proper renovation in over 15 years. The instant Nescafé was awful. Even a small capsule machine would’ve been better. We paid €100 for a night without breakfast, which felt far too high for what we got. There’s a noisy piano bar upstairs and a casino by reception, which didn’t make for a pleasant atmosphere. At a more reasonable price I’d have minded less, but the value for money was really poor.

The location puts you close to everything, and the old city is an easy walk away. The building is beautiful, breakfast was great, and the staff were helpful and nice. Our room was clean, though dated and in need of renovation. There was just one working elevator, and it was very slow. The restaurant downstairs was pleasant but expensive, and the food was only OK.

Reception and housekeeping staff were very polite, and the casino was top-notch, with brand new machines and furniture. Parking was available for a fee, with a discount for guests. The rest of the stay was a disaster, and I wouldn’t recommend it when you can find much better places for the same price. The room had dusty, old carpets and curtains, drafty windows that let in the busy street noise, and a hard mattress where I could feel every spring. The safe didn’t work and wasn’t attached to the wall or wardrobe. Worst was the bathroom: filthy, moldy grout and fixtures, moldy doors, a dirty shower curtain, and a leaking bathtub that left the whole floor under water. Embarrassing. Breakfast was poor too, with stale bread, tasteless cheese and cold cuts, and awful coffee. The outdoor pool was closed, while the indoor one was cold and dark. The old elevator creaked so badly we chose to take the stairs, and getting around felt like a maze in a horror movie.

The building is an old classic and beautiful, built long before Ramada started using it. If they can’t maintain it properly, maybe they should leave it. Our stay was awful: the rooms were moldy smelling, dirty, dusty, dark, and depressing. They charged 15 lv for parking spots they’d bought from the city, while the city charges 10 lv. It feels like they’re scamming guests and cutting corners on service and renovation. Shame on them.
