The Stay Hotel

The room was spacious, nicely furnished, and spotless, and the hotel was clean throughout. The front desk staff spoke fluent English, answered questions, offered recommendations, and helped things go smoothly. They were also flexible when I asked for a late check-out. I arrived late, but they handled the delayed check-in smoothly and, since a better room was available, upgraded me at no charge. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating from the start. The service, cleanliness, and unexpected upgrade made this one of my best hotel stays. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for great hospitality.

This was the worst hotel experience of my life, absolutely horrendous. The rooms were dirty, with bugs around, and the bathroom layout was a complete joke. One morning a worker unlocked my door while I was inside, only realizing after opening it, then left. Complete stupidity.

The night receptionist and the other staff were polite and more professional, but the rest of our four-night stay was far from pleasant. We had booked four rooms, one triple and three doubles, and clearly asked for single beds in all but one double room. Instead, we were given completely different arrangements. The triple room wasn’t ready for three people: it had no bed linen, towels, or pillows. When we told the receptionist, she gave us only sheets and towels, and we had to set things up ourselves. At arrival, the receptionist didn’t stand up or smile to welcome us. We’re from Greece, all speak fluent English, and one of us also speaks Bulgarian. Booking listed free parking, but because we reserved by phone, we were charged €10 per day for the first car and €20 for the second. The hotel was listed as pet-friendly, but the receptionist sarcastically said there was normally a fee and she was doing us a favor, though no fee was mentioned anywhere. Breakfast was meant to be free. When I asked where it was, the receptionist said the second floor, but we found out the next day it was served outside the hotel. Cleaning was inconsistent: towels only were changed on the first day, the room was thoroughly cleaned on the second, and on the third the bed was left completely unmade. One day, as I was heading out, the receptionist asked me to close the door because she was cold and too lazy to get up. When we asked to split the payment because of the large total for so many rooms, she spoke sarcastically in Bulgarian to someone and seemed annoyed that we wanted an invoice. I’ve worked in the same industry during seasonal periods for many years, so I understand the workload and pressure, but I’ve never seen this kind of behavior at another hotel. It’s possible to stay polite and professional in any circumstances.

The location is excellent and the service is great. It’s quite small, so you need to stay very organized, but otherwise it’s perfect.
