We come back to this complex for the SPA, but have never stayed in the hotel. The grounds are large and lovely, so I can imagine it’s a nice place to spend time. My low rating is only about the SPA. The pool was what we ended up using, then we warmed up under a hot shower. The steam room and saunas were cold when we arrived around 9 or 10 a.m. I’d like the staff to switch them on before opening so they’re properly warm for guests. If I’m remembering right, the SPA opens at 9, which makes arriving to cold saunas especially disappointing.

We’re staying in this complex for the third time, and still like it even though it may be 20 years old. The saunas, Russian baths, indoor pool and outdoor pools when they’re open are a big part of that, along with the several restaurants. Ravda is close by, a quieter seaside town that still depends on tourists. We also enjoy Bulgarian culture. It feels pleasantly different from further west, costs less, and may need our tourist pounds more.

Christo gave a fantastic leg massage, and the salt cave was lovely. There’s a great Russian Baňa too, plus lots of different saunas and a big wellness area. The indoor pool is 25m, and there are plenty of outdoor pools as well.

The massage and exfoliating scrub were both 10/10. We also tried the bath, but the water was extremely hot. If you’re sensitive to heat, be careful and ask them to make it less hot.

We liked the family friendly feel, the very good restaurant breakfast and the attentive staff. The beach route was confusing, though. Signs weren’t clear, the marked path was closed, and we spent time trying to reach the public beach without finding the private access. Our room had broken furniture, an outdated feel, and some issues with the doors and bathroom furniture. We’d asked for a double bed but got two singles, which seems common in Bulgaria. Parking at the hotel was always full, but we found a spot nearby, about 100m away. Aside from those things, all was good.
