BG Hotel Sofia

I’ve stayed here several times, on my own, as a couple, and with a group of four. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating every time, and breakfast had plenty of fresh fruit, sweet and savory food, plus juices, tea, coffee, and other drinks. It’s close to a supermarket, a bus and trolleybus stop, and metro line 3. The city centre is just two metro stops away. The only occasional hassle was the 15:00 check-in if we arrived in the morning and wanted to rest. They do keep bags safe, though, so you can go explore while you wait. Good value, and I’d come back.

It was very quiet at night, with the metro about five minutes away and a 20-minute walk. The breakfast was good and had plenty of choices, but both the cherry and strawberry jams tasted spoiled and moldy. The room was clean, yet I woke up congested, which I thought might be related to my dust mite allergy. An antihistamine helped. I travel four times a year and haven’t had this kind of issue at other hotels. At arrival, the front desk man wasn’t friendly to anyone and never greeted us coming or going. He said there was no parking for our car, though there seemed to be many empty hotel spaces around. I don’t know what those were for.

The breakfast buffet had lots of fresh, tasty options: eggs prepared three ways, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, chia pudding, pastries, desserts, coffee, juice, and tea. The staff in that area were attentive and cleared tables as soon as guests left. We stayed four days and three nights while visiting Sofia. The hotel felt new, with modern, spotless rooms, and housekeeping came daily to tidy up and leave fresh towels. Free parking was available around the hotel. It’s near the Military Hospital and well connected by public transport, and Waze brought us there easily. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return. Sofia is beautiful, full of history, and well worth visiting.

The hotel is excellent, with clean rooms, new appliances, working elevators, and everything needed for tea or coffee, plus mini fridges. Staff were great, and breakfast was free, plentiful, and had a very good selection. It was also quiet, with no street noise. The setting is a bit odd, surrounded by hospitals. A bus line is nearby and the metro is within a 400-meter walk. Getting a taxi can be tricky, since you have to explain how to reach the hotel. It’s a really nice, newly built place. Highly recommended!
