The hotel is clean, and the room is spacious with a comfortable bed. It's also not too far from the tourist attractions. But don't pay the hotel for breakfast. The fruit and cheese seemed as if they'd been stored for days, the scrambled eggs were cold and tasteless, and there wasn't much choice. Tomatoes and cucumber were the only fresh things on the menu. There are several nearby cafés and restaurants with great breakfasts. Update: I wasn't happy with breakfast, so after the first day I complained and asked for a refund, since I'd paid in advance. At checkout, management and the chef apologized for the snafu, and I got a full refund. They acknowledged that changes needed to happen, so I'm changing my 3-star review to 4 stars and applauding that.

The location is in the heart of Sofia. The rooms are old-school, classy, and maintained, and breakfast was good. Room service was terrible. There were no slippers in the room when I arrived. When I phoned to ask for some, the hostess told me to come down to reception to collect them. The Wi-Fi was horrible too, very slow and unstable.

The bar closed early, so when I arrived at 23.00hrs I couldn't even get a sandwich. Still, I had a lovely time. The rooms and location were top notch, close to a pedestrianized street full of cafés and bars, with the Metro nearby too.

Hotel Downtown is in a fantastic spot, just steps from the National Palace of Culture (NDK), making it easy to explore the city center. I spent three days there and had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast had plenty of variety. A great place to relax. I'd definitely come back, highly recommended!

The staff didn't seem to care at all. Our room was dirty on arrival, and when we asked the cleaner to come back in 10 minutes, she never returned. The location is good, but that's about it. Breakfast was one of the worst I've had: very little choice, and the coffee machine was broken both days. When the eggs ran out, they only started making more then, leaving us waiting 30 minutes for another batch.
