Family Hotel Agoncev

There were useful extras like a kettle in the room, plus tea and juice in the lobby. Breakfast was small, and although Booking.com listed service until 10:00 AM, the hotel initially said it ended at 9:30 AM. They did serve it after I checked my reservation in the Booking.com app. The location is handy for the metro and the Wi-Fi was excellent. My room was clean and serviced daily, though there was an unpleasant sewer smell.

The main letdown was breakfast. It was very modest, and I think it really needs an upgrade. I’d rather pay a bit more for the stay and get a better breakfast than be served one that felt like so little effort had gone into it. Otherwise, the hotel is nicely furnished and clean, and my room was cleaned every day. It’s fairly close to the center, in a quiet neighborhood.

The only things I liked were the coffee and the convenient location. I was in room 103, where the bathroom walls had a lot of mold and a strong mold smell. I told the administrator and asked for it to be cleaned while I was out. He said they’d handle it, but nothing was done. The towels were old and smelled bad when wet, and the window wouldn’t close properly, so the room was quite cold. Breakfast was one egg, two slices of bread, sausage and cheese, a few pieces of cucumber and tomato that didn’t look fresh enough for me to risk eating, plus butter and jam. I also got the impression that many positive reviews had been written by the hotel itself.

The location is great and it was quiet. The room had a slight smell at first, but airing it out with the window open cleared it up in about five minutes. A very good hotel.
