Hemus Hotel

I slept well despite the rooms not being fully soundproof, and the retro feel was a nice touch. It’s a relaxed, clean, efficient place with bright views, quick Wi-Fi, plenty of TV options, and good hot showers. There’s a kettle and tea in the room, and the coffee at the bar is great. The lovely staff helped me learn a bit of Bulgarian and made the stay easy and relaxing. The hotel sits just above EU Metro station, across from a shopping mall, about five minutes from Vitosha and eight minutes from the city centre. Rates are very reasonable, and check-out is at 12pm. Rooms are spacious enough for couples, though it seems especially suitable for solo travellers. I’ll definitely come back.

The reception team were professional and very helpful. Rooms are simply furnished, but clean and practical. The hotel itself is modern and functional, right in central Sofia with excellent metro links. I couldn't have asked for more.

This felt more like emergency shelter than a hotel. Everything seemed extremely old, the rooms were filthy, hygiene was far below acceptable, and it smelled like an ashtray. I couldn't wash in the bathroom and come away feeling clean. After checking in, I found another hotel and moved out. I wouldn't stay here except if stuck outside or in an emergency.

The breakfast had sweet and savory choices, both local and continental, and you could sit indoors or on the terrace. I also liked the lobby bar, and Antonia at reception was amazing. My room on the 14th floor had a wonderful view. The location suited me perfectly, 2.4km from alexander nevsky cathedral. Very good hotel!
